“Ensō” is a Buddhist symbol that represents enlightenment strength, elegance, the universe, and the void, or “Mu”. Created with a single brushstroke, it allows for no alterations. A meditative practise in letting go of the mind and allowing the body to create.
It’s oft misshapen or unfinished form demonstrates the beauty in imperfection, the art of letting go of expectations. It is a manifestation of the artist at the moment of creation and an acknowledgment of our true selves. the defects and contours that would otherwise hinder the creation of a flawless circle are precisely what make it lovely.
Sit, clear your mind and create. Ink, paper and two minutes of quiet are all you need.
